YITE CHANG

 

Yite Chang, taiwanese classical and electric guitarist, member of Delirium Ensemble: Organisation of tomorrow’s art since 2020.

In her career, Yite premiered around ten works.

Together with Delirium Ensemble, she premiered works by: Ulrich Krieger (Project Bergmal, pre-premiere, 2021, cooperation with Reitschule Bern), as well as within Project Delirium Distillery #2 (2020, cooperation with Musik-Akademie Basel)works by Caspar Johannes Walter (Chord Images), Gitbi Kwon (Die Hütte) and Oliver Rutz (Dedicated to the conductor), among others.

Yite takes part in festivals in Switzerland, France and Taiwan: Yite was invited by the Festival Mizmorim (2021) to premier the chamber ensemble work by Jonathan Keren, as well as by the Asian Composer League to premier the guitar solo work by Fang-Wei Luo An ancient dance at the occasion of Taiwan Contemporary Music Forum (2021).

As soloist, Yite performed at the 14th edition of the Festival International de Guitare de Paris as part of ‘‘Guitares à suivre’’(2016).

Yite has been creating diverse projects including several premieres in Taiwan: Recital <Unbounded>(2021), including taiwanese premieres of works by Maurice Ohana (Cadran lunaire for 10 strings guitar), Toshio Hosokawa (Serenade) and Terukaku Yamashita (Cora), produced at the National Taichung Theater. Recital <Edge of Lightness> (2019), including taiwanese premieres of works by Fausto Romitelli (Solare) produced at the Marteaux Musical Performing Arts Theater in Taipei and two other cities.

She has started a solo project on the spanish prose poem Platero y yo by Juan Ramón Jiménez and the selected guitar solo works of the same title by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Performing and reciting simultaneously, she has played in numerous concerts in cities including Basel, Schaffhausen, Paris, Taipei, Taichung (TW) and Tainan (TW). In 2020, the project was awarded in the video competition #musicalthoughts4u, organised by the Hochschule für Musik Basel (FHNW) and was nominated to the Director’s jury prize.

In summer 2020, collaborating with violinist Yuchin Huang and visual artist Lynn Hyeong, they produced the performance of music and painting improvisation <Les Rêves De La Mi-Été> at Le Lab Lab in Paris, based on abandoned art works by french painter/poet Jean-Paul Auboux.

Yite has already met musical personalities such as Pablo Márquez, Tania Chagnot, Rémi Jousselme, Elena Càsoli, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Felix Renggli, Ruth Rosique, Wiktor Kociuban, C.J. Walter, Michel Roth.

Yite studies currently at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Pablo Márquez. Between 2013-2018 she has been studying in France: first at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de L’Haÿ-les-Roses with Tania Chagnot, later at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Tours, guitar with Rémi Jousselme and Renaissance lute with Pascale Boquet.
