Chanhee Lim, born 1985 in Daejeon, South Korea, completed his studies in composition in Rostock and Dresden in the classes of Petre Manfred Wolf, José María Sánchez-Verdú, and Mark Andre. He is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in composition in the class of Caspar Johannes Walter at the Musik Akademie Basel. His works have been played in Germany, France, Austria, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, and South Korea, performed by ensembles including Minguet Quartett, Trio Sostenuto, Studio for New Music ensemble, Trio Sæitenwind, Ensemble Chambre d’écoute, Neophon Ensemble, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, NAMES ensemble and Ensemble Intercontemporain. He won Jurganson-Competion Moscow, Competition Donne in Musica, and he received a scholarship as an artist in residence in Künstlerhaus Eckernförde. His music has been chosen for performances in Project21AND Seoul, at Sorimok Seoul, Impuls Graz, at Snim – spontanes netzwerk für improvisierte musik Wien, Crossroads Salzburg, Darmstädter Ferienkursen, Manifeste Paris, for the Workshop Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, and in the Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky City, among others.
