Born in 1987 in Limanowa, Poland, Anna Sowa graduated from the Academy of Music in Lodz with honours in 2011, with a major in Eurhythmics. There, she continued her studies, completing her masters in composition with Professor Zygmunt Kruze in 2016. From 2014-2015, she was an Erasmus+ student at the Faculty Composition, specializing in compositions & visualization with Professor Dietrich Hahne Folkwang, at the University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. From 2017 – 2018, Sowa studied at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She is currently pursuing a Master Special Program at the Musik Hochschule in Basel, in Professor Casper Johannes Walter’s composition class.
Her works have been performed at various festivals; Musica Moderna – Lodz (PL), Musica Privata – Lodz, Neue Klange – Folkwang Udk – Essen (D), The Controlled Festival in Radom (PL), Music Theater in Lodz, Touch the Theatre – Lodz, Warszawa, ChampdAction – Antwerp, Polisch day Baselga di Pine (IT), National Eurhythmics Festival Exchange of ideas – Lusławice (PL), Fru Improvisation Contact Festival, C.A.R. contemporary art ruhr – Essen, BÉTON Brut & Bruits – Cologne (D), International Festival of Accordion Music in Przemyśl (PL), in Bauhaus/Dessau, at Arkady Kubackiego (Royal Castle Warszawa), Pergine Festival(IT).
Sowa has received the following scholarships: KAAD Bonn (D) 2015, Full Scholarship from the Chinese Government 2017 – 2018, Witold Lutosławski Scholarschip 2019 (PL).
